Jill began her career selling mainframe computers for IBM, a role that shaped her approach to business for years to come. “I didn’t know the first thing about computers when I took the job,” she says. “But I dug in, asked questions and learned everything I could about the business. I use the same approach with every new business I tackle.”
In 1984, Jill transitioned into the residential mortgage banking business and quickly worked her way up the ranks. She became president and CEO of Shelter Mortgage several years after joining the company.
During her 22 years leading Shelter Mortgage, she grew the company by 20% on average each year. She also expanded the company throughout the United States, turning it into the premier mortgage partnership lender affiliated with real estate companies. Jill led Shelter Mortgage through one of the United States' toughest economic periods and then successfully sold the company.
In 2014, Jill left Shelter Mortgage to launch a business coaching practice, Jill Belconis Enterprises LLC. She now serves a strategic business coach to CEOs and their leadership teams. Jill is a Certified Gazelles/Scaling Up Coach. Jill is known for her genuine coaching style, her ability to work with leaders in a non-threatening way, and her strength in holding leaders accountable to executing on their plans.
